Big Mumbai Game – Loss of ₹10,000

Big Mumbai Scam

Rohit, a 22-year-old college student from a small town near Mumbai, was looking for part-time work to support himself while he studied. One evening, as he was scrolling through Instagram, he stumbled upon an ad for a mobile gaming app called “Big Mumbai Game.” The advertisement lured users with easy money through by playing short prediction games and it was promised that they could earn ₹2,000–₹3,000 per day.

How Rohit Join Big Mumbai Game

Inquisitive and optimistic, Rohit clicked on the link. He was asked to call on a phone number available on WhatsApp where a person identified himself as customer support executive of Big Mumbai Game. Rohit was added to a Telegram group where he saw other people showing off their screenshots of large wins and happy messages thanking the app.

To win Rohit’s confidence, the support person requested him to initially deposit ₹500 only as a trial. So a friend – who we shall refer to by his first name Rohit ended up playing the game and got ₹700, he was able to withdraw the same. This small win had persuaded him that the game was indeed real.

The next two days, Rohit transferred additional money in increments — ₹2,000 and then ₹3,000. Each time, he was encouraged by the support team to invest more to unlock “VIP levels,” which would earn him greater profits. Rohit, believing the system and also due to group messages, eventually deposited ₹10,000 in total.

This time, things changed. After a couple of bets, Rohit began to just lose this round. When he attempted to cash out the balance, the app displayed an error message saying that his account was “under verification.” The customer support requested him to deposit more money for verification, and this made him suspicious.

A little while later, the app stopped launching. He got blocked on the WhatsApp number, and the Telegram group vanished. Rohit came to know that he was a victim of fraud and his ₹10000 was gone!

Rohit became mentally disturbed and felt humiliated after the incident. When he told his parents, they went to the Cyber Crime Portal. He says the experience taught him a valuable lesson – that online games offering guaranteed returns are often scams which prey on innocent users.
