Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship trained 1.17 crore people under its programmes in 2015 and 2017
- More than 28 lakh students trained under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana PMKVY, Rs.12,000 crore allocated by the centre of the flagship scheme of the ministry.
- 44% increase in number of seats in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) with focus on upgradation and modernization. Academic equivalence achieved for 10th, 12th and ITI students.
- 600% increase in candidates trained in 2017 from 2014 under NSDC’s short term fee based skill development model. A total of more than 1 crore trained till date.
- 251 Prahdan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK) opened to deliver quality training, target to open 1 centre in each district totaling to 556 centre across country.
- More than 6 lakh apprentices engaged by industry under National Apprenticeship Promotional Scheme (NAPS) post comprehensive reforms in the Apprenticeship Act 1961.
- More than Rs. 93 Crore under CSR committed from industries across sectors for Skill Development during 2016-17.
- Launch of World Bank Projects SANKALP (Rs.4,000 Crore) and strive (Rs.22,00 Crore) to strengthen National Institutes and Skill Development Missions, to promote market relevant training and modernize ITIs.
- Launch of India International Skill Centres (IISCs) to promote global mobility in jobs. 13 are operational and the plan is to open 100 centres by 2018.
- Launch of Pradhan Mantri Yuva Yojana to promote entrepreneurship amongst the youth.
- Won 8 medallions of excellence at World Skill 2015 in Brazil; Team of 28 will participate at World Skill 2017 in Abu Dhabi.
