Vidyasiri Scholarship 2026 is a grant programme implemented by the Backwards Classes Welfare Department (BCWD) of the government of Karnataka. It aims at providing financial support to post matric (PUC, graduation and above) students belonging to the OBC/SC/ST/EBC/differently-abled categories for realizing their potential through education. The scheme offers a monthly stipend of Rs. 1,500 for 10 months thereby totaling Rs. 15,000 annually and this money is deposited in the beneficiaries’ bank accounts directly.

Objective & Importance of Vidyasiri Scholarship – उद्देश्य और महत्व
- To promote educational achievement
- To motivate poor section students to pursue higher studies.
- To reduce the drop-out rate
- To assist in continuing studies by way of contributing for expenses on account of fees, hostels, food etc.
- To promote inclusiveness
- To take rural/urban backwards classes without economic backwardness along with high income per route of Higher Education.
- Likewise, the PM Internship Programme, it’s an initiative of Government of India under which we would be training young people in government departments, ministries and other public institutions. This arrangement does provide students hands-on experience, an insight into the job market and readiness to take up jobs.
Benefits of Vidyasiri Scholarship – छात्रवृत्ति के लाभ
- Full Fee Concession : Full fee concession is admissible for the students who are studying in post-matric classes/ courses and belong to not-adopted category studying in recognised institutions.
- Hostel For the PMS scheme, students are provided a hostel facility, free of cost in government hostels.
- Vidya Siri Scholarship Amount VFASS (Food and Accommodation) : Students who do not get hostel Vidyasiri scholarship amount: ₹ 1,500 (per month) X 10 months – ₹15,000 per year.
- Pratibha Puraskar: One-time financial assistance from ₹10,000 to ₹25,000 to the meritorious students of SSLC, PUC, UG and PG.
- Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT): Whole scholarship amount is directly transferred to the student’s bank account.
- Freeship, Scholarship in Higher Education: Students belonging to poor, rural and backward classes get relief for their studies.
Exclusive perks for female students: No cap on the number of women — any eligible female student can apply.
Vidyasiri Scholarship Eligibility – पात्रता मानदंड
- Candidate should be a domicile of Karnataka State.
- Must be from SC/ST/OBC/EBC/PwD category.
- Able to come for an interview at their own expense during weekday at Karanataka.
- (3) Institute must be a government/government-aided or recognised.
- Annual family income Limit for SC/ST category – Below ₹2.5 lakh
- Annual family income limit for OBC/EBC category (2A, 3A, 3B) – ₹1 lakh and above
- Category of Academic Performance Category-1: 40% (for Fresh) and 50% (for Renewal)
- Other Community: Fresh 50% and Renewal 60%
- Attendance: A student must attend at least 75% of the classes in order to appear for the examination.
- Students staying not at government hostels are also entitled.
- The distance of college should be 5 kms away from home.
- 2 male students from a family are allowed max. Female candidates are not restricted in number.
- For Pratihba Puraskar: Minimum 90% marks in SSLC or PUC. Annual income not exceeding ₹1 lakh for SC/ST, not more than ₹2.5 lakh for others.
How to Apply for Vidyasiri Scholarship – आवेदन प्रक्रिया
- Visit the Official Scholarship Portal
- Sign up using Aadhaar, mobile number and login creation.
- Select the Vidyasiri Scholarship 2026–27 under the section given as “Student Zone” or “Apply for Post-Matric Scholarship“.
- Now Complete the Application Form.
- Fill Scanned documents casting and income certificate etc.
- Thoroughly review all entries. Then click on Submit and record your application/reference no.
- Print the application summary/acknowledgement. Submit the hard copy of form and other documents to your college or Taluk/District BCWD office on or before the last date.
- Final approbation is given following examination by the states.
- Track Vidyasiri scholarship status Verification using SSP.
- The amount approved after verification (DBT) is directly transferred to your bank.
- Money will be transferred within a minimum of 2-3 months of verification.
